Battersea pays tribute to its devoted Ambassador Anthony Head

05 Jun 2026

Battersea pays tribute today to our wonderful Ambassador Anthony Head. Our love and thoughts go out to Anthony’s family and friends. For over 20 years Anthony has been a devoted supporter of our charity, lending his voice to many of Battersea’s campaigns and appeals, and attending our fundraising events.

Anthony Head and Sarah Fisher

Anthony was announced as a Battersea Ambassador, alongside his late partner Sarah Fisher, in 2018. Both animal lovers, Anthony and Sarah had a long association with our charity, having fostered and rehomed Battersea dogs. Alongside this, Anthony frequently performed readings at our annual carol concert, paid regular visits to our rescue centres, and supported our fundraising galas. As a world-famous actor, known and loved for his roles in Ted Lasso, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Vanity Fair, and The Iron Lady, Anthony used his global following to further promote Battersea dogs and cats looking for new homes.

Speaking about Battersea in 2018, Anthony said, “Battersea’s always been in my conscience. It’s quite extraordinary. In amongst this industrial built-up area, there is this wonderful peace.”

Having rehomed his own Battersea dog he said, “Rescue is best because it makes that bond between you and the animal that much more special because they know you rescued them.”

Battersea Chief Executive Peter Laurie says, “We're truly sorry to lose our beloved friend and Ambassador Anthony Head and our love and thoughts go out to all his family and friends. Anthony, alongside his late partner Sarah Fisher, gave so much to our charity, fostering dogs, raising awareness of our work, and supporting our events and fundraisers. A true champion for all rescue animals, he will be dearly missed by all of us.”
