More about Maya

Meet Maya!

Maya is a sweet and quirky lady with an adorable squeaky meow and lots of affection to give. She's looking for a calm, understanding home where she can settle at her own pace and build a special bond with her new family.

Maya has had quite a journey before arriving at Battersea. She can feel worried when things become overwhelming, but with patience, consistency and respect for her boundaries, she's shown herself to be a friendly and affectionate companion. She takes comfort from familiar carers and will thrive with people who allow her to choose when she'd like attention.

Maya is looking for a home with teenagers or older who can understand her needs and give her space when she needs it. She'll need a settling room with cosy hiding places to help her feel safe while she adjusts to her new surroundings. She'll also need outdoor access once she's settled and needs to be the only animal in her new home.

Maya may enjoy gentle playtime as her confidence grows, and she's even been known to play fetch! With the right home, this lovely girl has the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion.

If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Maya, you can e-mail our rehoming team on [cat.rehoming@battersea.org.uk](mailto:cat.rehoming@battersea.org.uk) to register your interest.

If you haven't completed our online form yet, you can find details on how to do so here: [Rehoming cats at Battersea](https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/cats).

Please be aware that we receive a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we're only able to contact those who are a match for the cat they've enquired about.

Rehoming FAQs

Here at Battersea, we assess all of our cats individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.

This may not always be the cat you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our cats and the right cat for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest.  Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our cats and for you wherever possible.

If we are not able to match you with a cat within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search beyond Battersea.

Our rehoming fee is £100 for cats (over six months), £130 for kittens (under six months) or £180 for a pair of cats and £225 for a pair of kittens. We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). The fees include a full vet and behaviour assessment, microchipping, flea and worm treatment, neutering, initial vaccinations, starter pack of food and four weeks of free Petplan insurance. Each cat also goes to their new home with their own blankets and a favourite toy, such as a knitted mouse.

It’s important to consider not just the initial cost of getting a cat or kitten, but the regular cost of insurance, food, equipment and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of owning a cat.
