More about Peppercorn

Meet little miss Peppercorn!

Peppercorn has had a longer journey with us at Battersea and has shown us that she finds the cattery environment rather worrying.
As such, she has gone to live with a dedicated foster carer who has shown when provided with patience and space, and opportunities to interact on her own terms, how wonderful of a companion Peppercorn can be!

Peppercorn spends a lot of time following her foster carer around the home and seeking attention when she chooses it.
She also enjoys being brushed, which will be a good way to bond with her.

Peppercorn is a girl who knows what she likes, and there's nothing more she enjoys than being in the company of her favourite people.
Need a work buddy to assist you with your emails or a sofa buddy to binge watch films and movies with? Then Peppercorn is your girl!

As she's had a lot of upheaval in recent years, she'd appreciate a calmer, more settled home with adults and teenagers who can respect her boundaries and read her body language. Peppercorn is very communicative and has clear signs when something is causing her discomfort. And like most cats, she enjoys a predictable routine!

Peppercorn requires access to a private garden. Cat-flap access would be great for giving her full choice and control over her environment, however for a quiet home with very minimal leave time we may consider manual access.
Peppercorn has shown she does not like other cats and has been known to fight over territory, therefore a home without a high cat-population would be most suitable.

As Peppercorn is on foster, any potential owners would be introduced to her at the foster carers home alongside Battersea staff.

If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Peppercorn, you can e-mail our rehoming team on cat.rehoming@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.

We ask every customer to first complete our online form to discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/cats.

Please be aware we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those who are a match for the cat you have contacted us about.

Rehoming FAQs

Here at Battersea, we assess all of our cats individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.

This may not always be the cat you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our cats and the right cat for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest.  Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our cats and for you wherever possible.

If we are not able to match you with a cat within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search beyond Battersea.

Our rehoming fee is £100 for cats (over six months), £130 for kittens (under six months) or £180 for a pair of cats and £225 for a pair of kittens. We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). The fees include a full vet and behaviour assessment, microchipping, flea and worm treatment, neutering, initial vaccinations, starter pack of food and four weeks of free Petplan insurance. Each cat also goes to their new home with their own blankets and a favourite toy, such as a knitted mouse.

It’s important to consider not just the initial cost of getting a cat or kitten, but the regular cost of insurance, food, equipment and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of owning a cat.
