Meet Arlo, he is our young Spaniel cross here at Old Windsor. New owners will need to speak with a Battersea vet prior to rehoming him due to one of his back feet missing some toes, a condition we believe he was born with; although not causing him any issues currently, this may need veterinary treatment in the future.
He is an affectionate and soft natured young dog who is looking for patient adopters who can help him continue to build his confidence. He can be worried by new people, dogs and unfamiliar situations initially, often seeking reassurance from his handlers, but once he feels comfortable, he quickly begins to show his affectionate, friendly and playful nature.
Arlo would benefit from living with a calm, steady adult dog who can act as a positive role model and help him develop his social skills. Although he can be nervous when meeting unfamiliar dogs and may initially hang back or seek reassurance. A suitable canine companion would help him remain social while continuing to build his confidence around other dogs.
He is still learning about the world around him and will need ongoing training and guidance from his new owners. Due to his young age and hind leg abnormality, new owners should take care with not over-exercising him and to ensure he has plenty of opportunities to rest afterwards.
Like many puppies, he can be worried but excitable and bouncy after some time. Arlo may be able to live with older children who can give him space and time to grow in confidence, but also happy to encourage calm behaviours.
A home with a secure private garden would be ideal for Arlo, giving him a safe space to exercise, play and continue his training without outside pressures. Initially, quieter walking routes will help him settle and gradually build positive association to his new environments.
Overall, Arlo is looking for understanding owners who are happy to take on his training and management needs. With patient guidance, and plenty of positive experiences, he has all the potential to develop into a well-rounded companion.

Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
