More about Barbara
Barbara is full of life and loves trotting along on her walks here at our Old Windsor centre.
She's a fun, sparky girl who enjoys nothing more than spending time with her favourite people. Until she knows you, Barbara can be a little apprehensive about greeting, but once you have her trust she will try to sit with you to bury her head in your lap.
When Barbara arrived with us she hadn't seen much of the world and was very easily overwhelmed by different sights and sounds and meeting new people and dogs. She has come on leaps and bounds but she'll still need some positive experiences as she settles into her home.
Barbara really struggles being left alone; even if someone leaves a room when she has company leads to her getting distressed and crying. This is an area that her owners will need to work hard on, and understand that it will take time to help her to feel more secure at home. Due to this, she will need a home with at least 2 adults so that her care and need for companionship can be shared, and so that she will not need to be left alone.
With other dogs, Barbara is mostly independent and can be nervous of larger dogs that approach her and she sometimes hides behind people if she is worried. Once she has built some confidence she can mooch along with small, steady dogs that don't ask much of her. It is likely that Barbara is not used to seeing dogs when she is walked so it is all a new experience for her, though she is doing so well so far.
Barbara likes games with toys but needs people to start the game - she loves a soft toy and will 'rag' them. Barbara arrived with us with quite a matted coat and needs time to get used to gentle grooming once she is settled in. She can panic at the vets and she'll need some management when she has trips for any medical treatment.
She's a huge character in a small body and we're sure that in her new home, with patient and committed owners, she'll absolutely thrive and her quirky nature will carry on shining.
