Meet Bellini, our sweet little Chihuahua cross who loves nothing more than gentle fuss from the people she trusts!
Nearly 10-year-old Bellini is an affectionate and gentle girl who enjoys being close to people but is also quite happy pottering around and exploring independently. She can initially be a little worried by unfamiliar situations and handling, so she is looking for patient owners who will allow her to take things at her own pace.
As Bellini can communicate her worries quite subtly, she would suit owners with some previous dog experience or those prepared to learn about canine body language and give her the calm, predictable home she needs.
Bellini has shown lovely social skills with a number of male and female dogs whilst in our care. She enjoys a polite greeting but is equally happy taking herself away to sniff and explore. However, she has shown some discomfort when sharing human attention and close spaces with another dog, so she is looking to be the only dog in her new home. She can still enjoy appropriate social interactions with suitable dogs when out and about.
We do not have any previous history for Bellini around cats and, as she has shown discomfort around sharing human attention, she is looking for a cat-free home.
There is also no previous history available around children. Bellini can be cautious around animated interaction and, as a small older dog who appreciates gentle handling, she would be best suited to living with sensible teenagers who can understand when she would like some space.
Bellini does not require a private garden, although access to one would certainly be beneficial while she settles and establishes a new toileting routine.
She has made fantastic progress with her walking since arriving and now generally walks beautifully on a loose lead. Stairs remain firmly on her list of things she would rather avoid, however, and she currently prefers a helping hand with those!
With patient owners, gentle handling and plenty of opportunities to enjoy life at her own pace, Bellini should make a wonderfully affectionate little companion.

Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
