More about Bilbo
Little Bilbo is a sweet baby Border Collie. He is a gentle soul who has had quite a sheltered life until coming into our care.
Bilbo lived in a family home with his parents and his siblings and has not been exposed to the big wide world before - he hasn't been for walks or to the vets, neither has he met many people or unknown dogs. As a result, he can be a little nervous of new experiences and other dogs and is quite hand shy. Bilbo needs sensible and kind new owners with a quiet household, who will not pressurise him to interact too much to start with, or flood him with lots of new experiences. He could potentially live with calm and sensible older children of 10 years plus, who can respect his boundaries and not place him under pressure to be touched all the time. Being so young, he will need his new family to be able to be at home with him for the majority of the time, while he builds secure bonds with them to feel safe.
This little lad will need a private garden of his own for his house training, a secure space to burn off his energy and a place he can grow in confidence, as he may not like to be walked too much to begin with. Being an intelligent working, herding breed, he will need physically active owners who are prepared to give him mental and physical stimulation adequate for his breed type on a daily basis. Bilbo could potentially live with another dog, but as he is a nervous lad this dog must be a mature, non problematic and gentle dog who can act as a role model for him, as opposed to a young play mate who will be too much for him at this stage. As he is still quite young, he could also live with a confident cat as long as his owners follow advice for best chance of setting both him and the cat up for success.
