More about Bobby

Meet Bobby, our handsome American Bulldog!

Bobby has quickly won over everyone with his affectionate and loving nature. In his previous home, he happily shared the space alongside children and a cat and was described as a friendly boy who loved attention and being close to his family. Since arriving in our care Bobby has found kennel life a little overwhelming, being quite vocal at times and has much preferred spending time with people. He forms strong bonds and enjoys fuss, cuddles and simply being near his favourite humans. Bobby is under the care of the London Battersea team and is currently spending time in a foster home.

Bobby is looking for owners who have some previous dog owner experience and who are prepared to continue his training in the home and work on his confidence when left alone, as he has shown some separation-related behaviours both in his history and while in our care. He is already beginning to settle into routines on foster and has shown that he can relax when given time, patience and appropriate enrichment. Potential adopters should be aware that Bobby is a large and powerful dog. Since moving into foster care he has become much more confident and has shown that he can be extremely strong on lead, particularly if he spots squirrels or wildlife. New owners will need to be physically capable of managing him and committed to ongoing lead walking training.

Bobby enjoys meeting other dogs and has some lovely social skills, but he has also shown some sexual behaviours when meeting them and would therefore prefer to be the only dog in the home. He would benefit from continuing positive socialisation with suitable dog friends out on walks.

While Bobby previously did successfully live with a cat in the home and was reported to have a lovely relationship with them, his previous owners reported that he would chase cats outside of the home and, while on foster, Bobby has shown a strong desire to chase squirrels and wildlife as well as showing strong chase towards a cat in the garden, we would therefore advise that he does not live in a home with a cat.

Bobby has been friendly with everyone he has met, although there have had some instances of stress humping and he can be stressed with general handling. We feel he is best suited to live with teens 13+ who can give him space when needed and who can participate in his daily training and maintenance.

Bobby is looking for a home with a private garden, access to quieter walking routes while he settles in, and owners who can provide consistency, training and lots of affection.

For the right family, Bobby will make an incredibly loyal, affectionate and rewarding companion who has so much love to give.
