Meet Bubu, our gentle and sensitive boy!
Bubu is an affectionate and sensitive lad who is looking for a patient family who can help him discover just how wonderful the world can be. He can be a little unsure of new people, environments and experiences, but we have already seen him grow in confidence during his time with us. Once he feels comfortable, Bubu is happy to make friends, enjoy some gentle fuss and potter around with his favourite people.
Bubu is looking for owners who have a good understanding of dog behaviour and are confident reading body language. He can become overwhelmed by too much handling or excitement and has previously nipped when he has felt overstimulated and uncomfortable, so his new family will need to respect his boundaries and understand when he is asking for a break. With gentle guidance, consistency and patience, Bubu has shown that he can learn to feel safe and comfortable in new situations.
Bubu would be happiest as the only dog in the home, allowing him the space and security to build his confidence without feeling overwhelmed. However, with experienced owners, he could potentially live alongside a calm and respectful canine companion who understands his quieter communication style. He has also shown no chase behaviour towards cats and could potentially live with a confident, dog-savvy cat following careful introductions.
Due to his previous history around a young child, Bubu is unable to live with children. His new family will also need to be confident advocating for him when children are encountered out and about, giving him space and preventing unwanted interactions.
A private garden is essential for Bubu. He is not currently fully housetrained and has previously found leaving the home particularly difficult, so having a secure outdoor space will give him somewhere calm to toilet and explore while he gradually builds confidence. His new owners should be prepared for walks to be a long-term work in progress rather than something that happens immediately. Short, quiet outings and gentle lead training can be introduced at his pace, with no pressure if he is feeling worried.
Bubu would benefit from a peaceful home away from busy inner-city environments, where he can settle without being overwhelmed by constant noise and activity. He will need his family to take things slowly, celebrate the little victories and give him time to develop a strong bond before expecting too much from him.
Bubu is a truly lovely sensitive soul who has already shown us that, given time and understanding, he can come out of his shell. He may need more patience than some dogs, but for the right family, watching Bubu discover his confidence and begin to enjoy life will be incredibly rewarding. With gentle guidance, a safe environment and plenty of love, this special boy has every chance to blossom into a wonderful companion.

Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
