More about Buffy
Buffy is a shy Border Terrier who finds the world quite overwhelming and needs things to be taken slowly. She can be worried by new people and unfamiliar environments, often choosing to retreat when she feels uncomfortable. She is looking for understanding owners who can give her the time and patience she needs to build her confidence.
Buffy will need plenty of time to settle into her new home before being introduced to new experiences. A home with a private and secure garden will allow Buffy to enjoy some outdoor time in a familiar environment. A quieter neighbourhood will also help to keep everyday life as calm and manageable as possible for her.
New owners need to understand it may take Buffy some time before she is able to start going on walks. They should start slowly with short walks in quieter areas, sticking to familiar routes to help her gradually gain confidence. Buffy may always find busy environments, such as high streets and dog parks, overwhelming, so her new owners will need to be happy to adapt their lifestyle to suit her needs.
She can find meeting new people difficult and has not shown much interest in seeking affection from people whilst with us. It will take her a while to form bonds with new owners. With patience and a gentle approach, Buffy will gradually begin to feel safer and more comfortable around the people in her life.
Buffy may benefit from living with a confident, steady dog who will respect her space and provide a positive role. She does show interest in other dogs when out on walks but becomes worried if she has to interact with them.
Buffy will need understanding owners who are prepared to take things one step at a time and understand she may never be a super social dog.
If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Buffy, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.
We ask every customer to first complete our online rehoming application form, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/dogs
Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about.
Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
