More about Conker

Conker is a polite 2-year-old Shih Tzu who is looking for a calm, quiet home where he can take life at his own pace and continue to grow in confidence.

He is a gentle boy who enjoys the quieter things in life. He prefers a leisurely stroll, finding all the best sniff spots and spending time with people who offer him gentle fuss and affection. He's not one to rush around and would much rather enjoy the world at his speed.

He can sometimes be a little stop-start on walks, but with some encouragement and quieter surroundings, he walks nicely. He isn’t a big fan of walking in the rain, even with a raincoat on. He has been housetrained during his stay with us.

Conker has generally been social with other dogs and enjoys calm walks alongside those who match his personality. He can be unsure around more playful or excitable dogs. He could potentially share his home with a calm, small dog who is happy to give him space and doesn't expect too much interaction.

He can be a little worried by new people and can take his time before approaching but his confidence has started to grow. Once he knows you, he enjoys affection and receiving some gentle fuss. Due to this he is looking for a home with older teenagers that can respect his space.

Conker is looking for new owners with a peaceful home that are prepared to give him the patience and affection he deserves

Potential owners will need to speak with a Battersea vet prior to rehoming Conker.

If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Conker, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.

We ask every customer to first complete our online rehoming application form, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here; https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/dogs

Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about.

Rehoming FAQs

Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.

This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest.  Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.

If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:

  • Microchipping
  • Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
  • Neutering
  • A collar, identification tag and lead
  • Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
  • Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings

Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
