More about Dolly

Let me introduce to you, the utterly delightful Dolly.

Dolly is a retired racing Greyhound. She is a gentle sweetheart but can feel worried by new environments and changes. Dolly has spent time in a foster home where she has been house trained and has been the perfect house guest! She has been very worried to leave the house at times, but there has been a huge jump in her confidence going in and out the garden and she enjoys being outside and loves to sniff all the plants and flowers. She loves watching the birds from the back door and has been described by her foster carer as 'the politest shadow.'

When Dolly was left alone we have seen that she does struggle being on her own. Dolly is a firm favourite in our office areas and we have found that as she becomes more comfortable in the office she will happily settle down in this space on her own. Due to this, she will need patient owners who are around most of the time and can give her plenty of time, reassurance, and a gradual settling-in period. As she has little experience of it, the outside world can feel overwhelming for Dolly and she may put on the brakes when anxious, so calm, quiet walking routes and owners who are happy to go at her pace are essential.

As an ex-racer, Dolly needs to wear a muzzle when out on her walks but this is very much a part of her normal day as is a harness and lead. She is friendly with other dogs and gains confidence from walking alongside them, so she could live with a calm canine companion or enjoy regular doggy walking friends.

Dolly will need a quiet home away from the city with a private garden, where she can feel safe, build confidence, and explore at her own speed. Dolly is looking for an adult only home where, with understanding, consistency, and kindness, Dolly will blossom into a loving, loyal companion who forms a deep bond with her people.

Dolly has spent a lot of time in offices and has been a very lovely office dog, she settles nicely on her bed and try's very hard to be clean when in offices spaces so this will help with regards to her housetraining once home. Dolly has a large caterpillar toy when in the offices and loves to play and then promptly snooze with them. Dolly would be a wonderful companion to someone who works from home.
