More about Dottie

Dottie is a sensitive Dachshund who will make a rewarding addition for her new owners. She is based at our Old Windsor Centre.

Dottie loves her toys, her favourites are tennis balls, and she also enjoys playing with soft squeaky toys. She can become over excited while playing with tennis balls and has been vocal when wanting her handlers to throw them.

Dottie came to us from a previous home and spent time on foster; she has been settled at different times and has been affectionate with her foster carers. Dottie has shown to have a vocal side if she hears other dogs outside or when left alone. Due to this we feel Dottie will need a multiple carer household to help support her training needs and slowly build up her leaving hours while she settles in.

She can be worried of new people, and barks on the first approach. It can take Dottie some time to make friends, with patience and treats she has bonded with handlers, and her affectionate side has begun to shine through. Due to her worry of new people and different forms of handling we feel it is best for Dottie’s new family to be adults only.

Dottie will need confidence building in different areas, especially when meeting new people and allowing Dottie to approach in her own time and avoid any forced interactions so she can continue having positive experiences while working on her socialisation. She will also need housetraining reminders and time to settle into her new home. Dottie is looking for her new home to have a private and secure garden to continue her training and give her a safe space to explore.

Dottie can be worried and vocal towards other dogs. She has shown to be more anxious and uncomfortable around them, she has been working on handler focus during walks as she can bark while passing other dogs or during introduction. We feel it is best for Dottie to be the only pet in the household due to this.

Dottie will make a fulfilling project and an affectionate companion in her new home. If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Dottie, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.
