More about Gizmo

Gizmo is a worried and anxious dog who is looking for very understanding owners who are used to dogs with similar behaviours to him. He is based at our Old Windsor centre.

Gizmo loves the sound of his own bark and will bark when he is excited or uncomfortable about something. He has a history of barking at other dogs and we have seen this here at Battersea too; he does not want much to do with dogs and needs to live as the only dog at home and not have any visiting dogs to his home either. We have put some training in place to help Gizmo feel more confident around dogs which will need to be carried on at home.

He can be vocal around new people or visitors to the home, and this will need managing at home. With those he knows, Gizmo is a typical Dachshund - fun, lively, tenacious and highly entertaining. He'll happily chase toys around and loves a game, and also has brilliant motivation for food, which has been useful for all of his training. He gets enthusiastic when saying hello and his whole body wiggles.

Gizmo loves company and does not like being left alone. He'll need a home with multiple people so that they can share his care and ensure he has company, especially when he is settling in.

Gizmo is going to be a project dog and his new owners need to be committed to working with his behaviours. Once he has settled in and bonded with his owners, we feel he'll be an eager, lively and endearing member of the family.
