More about Haze
Meet Haze, our 4-year-old Jackahuahua!
Haze came to Battersea due to his previous owner's ill health, with a lovely history of being a relaxed and affectionate boy at home. His previous owner described him as their best friend and emotional support, and he loves nothing more than a cuddle with his favourite people.
Haze can be apprehensive around people he doesn't know and needs time to feel comfortable. When he first arrived, he was very worried and preferred to avoid being touched, but as he has got to know his handlers, he has started to show his sweet and affectionate side. He can still find formal handling difficult, so his new owners will need to be experienced, confident reading his body language and committed to building his confidence at his own pace.
Haze has also become less confident around other dogs and can sometimes react or tell them off, so he will need to be the only dog in the home. Although he previously lived happily with a cat, he has shown chasing behaviours towards cats outside the home, so he cannot live with cats either. He would benefit from having some suitable doggy friends to meet on walks.
Due to his sensitive nature, Haze would prefer to live with calm teenagers aged 13+ who can respect his boundaries and give him space when needed. He will need a family who understands the importance of leaving him undisturbed when eating or resting and helping him feel safe around unfamiliar people.
Haze is used to living without a garden, so one isn't essential for him. He enjoys the simple things in life, especially cuddles, chicken and finding a sunny spot to relax in!
Haze is looking for experienced, patient owners who can help him feel safe and settled. With time and understanding, his affectionate personality can really shine.
If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about the sweet little Haze you can e-mail our rehoming team on rehoming@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.
We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual dog, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/dogs
Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about.
Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
