More about Higgins

Higgins is a clever young dog with a lot of potential, but he is not for first-time owners. He has a history of biting around handling and guarding high-value items, so he needs patient, experienced owners who understand resource guarding and will follow a clear management plan.

With his known people, he is cuddly and affectionate, he has shown some signs of separation anxiety so he will need his time alone built up very slowly. Spaniels bond strongly to their humans and like to be around them 24/7. Higgins can be quite worried of strangers, more so men. He is able to warm up quickly if offered reassurance, new owners will need to advocate for him and work on his confidence building with new people.

He is crate trained, loves toys, and responds well to positive reinforcement, but boundaries must be consistent from day one. Higgins is social with other calm, well-mannered dogs but can be overwhelmed if over-stimulated.

He will need a home with quiet walking routes, structured routines, and plenty of enrichment. With the right, committed owner, Higgins can become a loyal and affectionate companion—but he will always need careful handling and supervision. He is a very smart boy with so much potential, he would make a great agility dog!
