More about Izzy

Meet Iggy, our beautiful Cane Corso cross belgian malinois pup!

Iggy arrived at Battersea at a very young age and was sadly separated from her mother. She has been hand-reared and fostered while in our care. Iggy is a playful and affectionate little girl who can be nervous around new people, so her new owners will need to be patient and committed to building her confidence.

Iggy needs owners with previous dog experience of high drive working breeds as her Malinois traits are quite strong. Her new family must understand the responsibility of raising a young, guarding breed puppy and be prepared to put plenty of time into her training, socialisation and development. Research into guarding breed traits is essential, as Iggy will grow into a large, powerful dog and her needs will change as she matures.

Iggy is becoming increasingly mouthy, which is typical puppy behaviour, and has shown some sensitivity around handling, particularly her feet. Her new owners will need to continue her training consistently, redirect her mouthing onto suitable toys and build positive associations with handling from an early age. She is also very motivated by food and toys, so she will benefit from appropriate training and enrichment to keep her busy.

Iggy can live with a confident and tolerant dog who can act as a suitable role model as she develops her social skills. She could potentially live with a dog-savvy cat following careful introductions.

Iggy will need her own private garden and can live with experienced teenagers who are confident around mouthy puppy behaviour and can respect her boundaries while supporting her training.

Iggy is a lovely young girl, but she needs a committed home with the right experience to guide her through puppyhood and help her develop into a well-rounded adult.

If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Iggy, you can e-mail our rehoming team on rehoming@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.

We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual dog, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/dogs

Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog in question.

Rehoming FAQs

Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.

This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest.  Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.

If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:

  • Microchipping
  • Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
  • Neutering
  • A collar, identification tag and lead
  • Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
  • Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings

Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
