Meet lovely Jake the ex-racing Greyhound!
Jake is a retired athlete. He has left the racing scene far behind and is looking for a soft cosy bed to rest his legs on. He will happily spend large chunks of the day chilling on the sofa (often upside-down).
Jake is a calm dog who enjoys getting out for walks, and happy to potter around and relax. Jake is an affectionate, gentle natured soul who has been friendly with everyone he has met on site. Due to his gentle nature, Jake could live with children and perfect for someone looking for an easy going dog.
Jake can often be seen playing with toys on his own and running after a tennis ball.
As an ex-racer, Jake can find the small fluffies quite interesting so will need to be kept on lead when out on walks with his muzzle on. Due to this, he will need a garden space where he can have his off lead time for his daily brief zoomies. Also because of this, Jake cannot live with cats or small animals.
Jake has been kennelled with a greyhound friend before without issue and has been friendly with all the dogs he's met out on site. As such, he could live with a steady similar sized dog / greyhound who he can snuggle up with.
Inside every Greyhound is a couch potato looking for a soft spot to sleep upside down on. Jake is no exception to this rule and is ready to find his new home and hopefully a super special soft sofa dedicated just for him. He will make a wonderful affectionate companion!

Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
