More about Loki
Loki is a lively and intelligent Labrador cross. He loves his food and most of all chasing and retrieving tennis balls here at Old Windsor.
Loki is a very clever young dog, who is looking for an experienced and active home. He will enjoy high energy activities such as agility, search games and lots of exercise. He is strong on lead, so will need owners who are physically able to manage him.
As Loki has a high motivation for tennis balls and food, this comes in handy when teaching him new commands. Loki knows a ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘middle’ and ‘wait’. He picks up his training very quickly with boundless eagerness. He will require ongoing training and learning new skills to keep his brain busy in his new home.
He has been friendly towards other dogs during his time here. Loki is vocal during the initial greet but once they have met, he is then happy to do his own thing and can be independent. He has also shown to be playful with more animated dogs and listens well if he is being too much. Loki will need to continue his socialisation, keeping all interactions calm and positive.
Loki is full of enthusiasm and exuberance and has a zest for life that he likes to tell you about, he is a vocal dog when he gets excited, but he is working on learning to contain this. He can be sensitive to his surroundings, particularly sudden noises and unfamiliar people. He can alarm bark when worried, but with consistent training and calm handling, he has made encouraging progress. Whilst he may still use his voice, he is increasingly able to settle and feel more comfortable seeing people out and about. Loki will need new owners who are able and committed to continue his training in this area, he has shown great potential and is continuing to grow.
Loki is work in progress and is looking for an experienced home that understands dog body language and are comfortable working with a sensitive, vocal dog. For the right owners, the time and patience invested in Loki will be hugely rewarding, he is an intelligent, engaged dog who forms strong bonds and takes great reassurance from his known people.
