More about Maximus

Maximus is a handsome German Shepherd based at our Old Windsor site.

When Maximus first arrived here he was very nervous and withdrawn. With time and patience he has started to come out of his shell and has made friends with some of the staff here, however, he is still nervous around new people and situations. Maximus could live with teenagers that are able to read his body language and give him space while he settles into his new home.

He can also be worried by meeting other dogs, and his new family will need to socialise him with calm, steady dogs that will help to build his confidence. He really enjoys walks in quiet locations like woodland areas, but due to his worries around new people and dogs he will be needing a private secure garden.

Maximus will be a rewarding dog for someone with time and patience, and is happy to go at his pace. Food is definitely the way to his heart, and this has been a great way to make friends with him. Once he is your friend he will happily sit right next to you for a fuss, often leaning in for more.
