More about Midnight
Midnight is a loving and sensitive Cocker Spaniel who is based at our Old Windsor Centre.
We have no history for Midnight and what she has previously experienced before coming into us. During her time here she has shown to have a worried side and gets a lot of reassurance from her known handlers. She will need ongoing training to help build positive experiences and allow Midnight to build her confidence at her own pace.
Midnight is currently spending some time in a foster home. She was worried to start with and took some time to be able to settle into her new environment. She has made lots of progress with her confidence and does need ongoing work to help her overcome worrying situations with time and patience. Midnight will need new owners to be very patient, understanding and willing to dedicate time to her. Her confidence is starting to grow, along with her energy levels, and she'll happily zoom around the garden but will then settle down for a snooze next to her foster carer. She is learning to play with toys - she particularly loves a soft gingerbread toy and will chase this if her foster carers engage her in a game. She is a little worried in the car, but travels better in a crate that is covered over with some blankets.
When indoors, Midnight has shown clear signs of uncomfortable behaviour when the other dogs approach her in different situations. We feel due to this Midnight will need to be the only dog in the household. She will benefit from regular walking buddies as she is a social girl out on walks, she enjoys a gentle play and going for walks with her doggy friends.
During her time on foster we have seen that Midnight struggles with going on walks and finds this very stressful. She is working on this with her foster carer and gradually working on slow and positive exposure to the outside world. Due to this Midnight will benefit from her new home to have a private and secure garden to help continue her confidence building. She finds the noise of traffic quite scary and will try to run away from this, so is looking for a home in a quieter place where she will not hear or see many cars.
Midnight will make a rewarding and loyal companion in her new home, if you are interested in her and have not registered, please do so on the Battersea website: https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming.
