More about Nimba
Meet Nimba, a bundle of fun, a good mix of loving to hike and taking up the whole sofa. She is Husky cross based at our Old Windsor centre looking for her forever home.
Nimba has blown everyone away with how clever she is, picking up new commands very quickly. She has breezed through ‘sit’ and ‘wait’, now onto ‘bang’, 'speak' and ‘crawl’ plus many more. A family that would like to continue brain training and expand her commands would be just what Nimba needs.
Nimba has been a great house guest in her temporary foster home. She is housetrained, loves the car and been very well mannered. She is always a happy girl, ready for an adventure but also has a lazy side hogging the sofa snoring upside down. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see a video of Nimba enjoying some adventures in her foster home. At home Nimba is very gentle loving dog, always offering a paw to get more fuss. She loves you so much she can struggle being left alone, she is able to build the time up going at her pace and sticking to a good routine. But owners will need to appreciate it will take time to improve.
She does have a very strong chase drive around wildlife, horses and livestock. Having her own secure garden will be essential to allow her off lead exercise, showing off her zoomies and playing with toys. To keep her and other animals safe Nimba will need to be on lead for her walks. She has completed over two hour hikes on lead and she loves every minute. The garden will need to be very secure with high fencing; she is too clever and quick to find weak spots and try to take herself for a walk.
Nimba loves her walks so much she can forget her own strength, new owners will need to feel comfortable handling Nimba especially when she wants to chase something. She has been associated to walk with a head halter to help with this; nevertheless, her owners need to be comfortable with walking a strong dog.
Nimba enjoys greeting other dogs and is friendly and playful. She has been able to share space and resources well with another dog. Nimba can read dogs well but during play, she can sometimes forget her size and get over excitable which some dogs may not appreciate. Nimba could potentially live with another dog who can be a role model for her but have a similar playstyle.
Nimba has been described as a joy to have at home, she is hilarious and will make a fantastic adventure buddy for the right home.
