More about Oscar
Sweet little shaven lamb Oscar is a delightful little chap, with luscious long eye lashes and the ability to rock any brightly coloured jumper effortlessly. Oscar came into our care through no fault of his own and has been a shy and worried little lamb, taking some time to come out of his shell and build trust. He has made huge leaps and bounds in his confidence during his time with us and is now ready to start his new chapter in life.
Oscar can be wary of new people and will need sensible new owners who are willing to follow our advice when it comes to managing him around new people. He took a while to settle into our environment at Battersea, but did spend a brief spell in foster where he did quite well, making friends with his foster carers family members. Oscar loves other dogs and they do give him some confidence, but due to some persistent sexual behaviours seen with other dogs on foster, we feel he would be better suited as the only dog in his new home, with canine friends he can meet up with walks. He will need his own garden as a little safe sanctuary for him, and some house training reminders.
Oscar is worried of formal handling and grooming and it is imperative his new owners really understand and can commit to the support he needs in this area, as when he came into he was very overgrown and horribly matted, causing him great discomfort. Due to his coat type, he will need dedicated owners who understand the importance of maintaining the poodle type coat properly. Owners will need to spend time continuing to build on the positive association we have started with his handling and grooming here, building up to brushing him everyday. They will need to factor in the financial responsibility of monthly trips to the groomer to keep his coat and skin in good condition and prevent him from becoming uncomfortable, matted or suffering from skin infections.
He may need a little more time and management than other pooches, but we are sure Oscar will flourish in the right home, and our rehoming team will go through all of his training needs with any possible new owners both verbally and in person.
We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming
If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about this lovely little lad, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bbh.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.
Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about.
