More about Reginald
Meet lovely Reginald our affectionate, cuddle-bug of a German Shepherd!
Reginald arrived on site from the wardens so we unfortunately do not have any information on his history. The wardens described him as a friendly boy which we have seen to be true on site! Reginald loves everyone and anyone if they're happy to give him all the fusses. He's a very affectionate lad but can get quite excited to see people, bouncing around. He has shown no sensitivities towards handling and loves a bit of rough and tumble so would be well suited to live with older children (8+) who are not afraid of some accidental bulldozing!
Reginald loves other dogs a little too much and is prone to showing persistent rude sexual behaviours when off lead. Due to this he would be too much for another dog in the home. He should also be kept on lead until his sexual behaviours with other dogs have reduced and his recall has improved. However, on lead he is able to walk politely alongside other dogs albeit with some whining. He would benefit from regularly meeting other tolerant dogs on lead to continue with his socialisation.
We have no information on Reginald around cats and he has shown no chase behaviours so he could potentially live with a dog savvy cat. However, he may be rude to them in the way he is with dogs so this should be considered if applying for Reginald.
Reginald will require a private garden to allow him to focus on his training and recall before being let off lead in public. He could live in any location as he's very confident out and about.
Reginald, Reggie or Reg would make a fantastic family dog and has a whole lot of love to give to any family who are confident in managing his cheeky behaviours around other dogs.
If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Reginald, you can e-mail our rehoming team on rehoming@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.
We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual dog, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehome/dogs
Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about.
Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
