More about Ruby (& Lola)
Ruby and Lola are a lively, affectionate Cockapoo duo who bring a wonderful mix of fun and charm wherever they go.
Ruby (Apricot colour) and Lola (Black colour) arrived together and have been inseparable their whole lives. They share a lovely bond, even though their personalities shine in different ways.
They’ll do best as the only dogs in the home, as they prefer not to share their toys with others and Ruby can feel a bit unsure around other dogs. With a calm, understanding environment, they’ll have the space they need to feel safe and confident.
Ruby has had some worrying experiences in busy dog parks, where she was chased by other dogs. Because of this, she can feel anxious around unfamiliar dogs. When another dog gets too close or stares at her, she may pull forward on the lead, bark to tell them to give her space. For now, she’ll really benefit from quieter walking areas where she can relax, feel safe, and gradually rebuild her confidence.
Lola is generally more comfortable with other dogs and is happy to say hello before doing her own thing. She can find dogs who are pushier with their interactions worrying, if she’s feeling unsure, she might tuck her tail or roll over submissively.
Their new family should plan to walk them in calmer environments to help Ruby have positive experiences and gentle socialisation. This might mean simply watching dogs from a distance and practising her training without the pressure of close interactions or off lead dogs approaching unexpectedly.
Ruby and Lola have spent time around school age children and have always been friendly and gentle with them. They’d be happiest with children who are already comfortable around dogs who may jump up when excited. The girls enjoy playful, bouncy interactions and can sometimes bark during their games, so confident, dog savvy children will help them feel at ease.
One of Ruby and Lola’s absolute favourite things is racing around off lead together in a secure paddock and chasing after tennis balls. They adore playtime and can get quite enthusiastic, which sometimes means soft toys and tennis balls don’t last very long. For their safety, toys shouldn’t be left out when they’re unsupervised.
To keep playtime harmonious, it’s helpful to offer multiple toys so there’s plenty to go around. During excited play, Ruby may occasionally dash over to Lola and take the toy she’s holding, so having a few options available helps prevent any squabbles and keeps the fun going for both girls.
Ruby and Lola would make wonderful companions, and they have so much love and affection to share with the right family.
