Meet Simba, our loveable tennis ball enthusiast!
Simba is a friendly, playful German Shepard Cross who has quickly won over the hearts of everyone he has met during his stay with us. He loves spending time with people and is never happier than when he has a tennis ball in his mouth. Although kennel life was initially a little overwhelming, Simba has settled in beautifully and shown himself to be a fun-loving companion with a gentle nature.
Simba is looking for owners with some previous dog experience, ideally with an understanding of his breed types and a commitment to continuing his training. He is a bright, eager boy who loves to learn and responds especially well when his favourite tennis ball is involved. While he can occasionally be strong on lead, he is quick to refocus with calm guidance and consistency.
Simba has a lovely history of living successfully with another dog and has continued to show good social skills during his time with us. Although he can feel a little unsure around very playful or overbearing dogs, he communicates appropriately and is happy to disengage when needed. He could happily live with a well-matched canine companion or enjoy life as the centre of attention. He could also potentially live with a dog-savvy cat following careful introductions.
Simba has grown up around children and has always been affectionate, gentle and playful with them. He would be well suited to living with sensible primary school-aged children who are confident around dogs and understand when to give him space.
Although Simba has previously lived happily without a garden, one would be a great bonus, giving him a secure place to stretch his legs, enjoy a game of fetch and continue his training. He is fully housetrained and has shown he can settle well when left alone for short periods once he has adjusted to his new home.
Simba is a wonderful all-round dog with plenty of love to give. With regular exercise, ongoing positive training and lots of opportunities to play, he is sure to make a loyal, affectionate and entertaining companion for his lucky new family.

Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
