David Watson

Committee Member

David joined Battersea as a member of the Council of Trustees in 2020 and later joined the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. A chartered accountant with a Cambridge law degree, David has worked throughout his career in the financial services sector. He has held senior management roles within investment banking, private equity and asset management.

David is a member of the Council of the University of York and Chairs the University's Audit and Risk Committee. In addition, David is a Governor at ETC FE Colleges Group where he also chairs the Audit and Risk Committee, is a member of the Peoples Committee and is the Governor-lead for Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.

A keen cyclist and gardener, David lives in North Yorkshire with his Partner, Nik, and their three recue dogs, Whizz, Archie and Bugs.

Sarah Anderson

Committee Member

Sarah joined Battersea’s Global Programmes Advisory Board in June 2021. Her career began in the private sector at US IT firm BMC Software and consultancies EY and Deloitte. Sarah then spent 20 years in the Diplomatic Service with postings at the UN in New York negotiating child rights. She also oversaw bilateral political relations at the Embassy in Santiago. Additionally, she supervised the Iberian consular, visa, and passport services at the British Consulate in Madrid.

She then spent several years working in the Prime Minister’s Office overseeing the delivery of the UK’s ‘GREAT Britain’ campaign. This campaign was delivered across 144 countries, and through 750+ partners from every industry sector. Sarah is now the Director of Corporate Engagement at the London School of Economics, bringing together business and academia to create positive social impact. Sarah is a passionate advocate of animal rights, and a huge animal lover who grew very attached to the infamous No.10 cat.

With thousands of cats being cared for by the leading animal welfare charity each year, Battersea sees a wide variety of felines coming through its gates, some of which with more unique quirks than others. To mark International Cat Day, Battersea is celebrating by sharing some of its most distinctive residents of 2023 so far.
