Terms & Conditions

All volunteers must abide by these rules and any instructions or regulations displayed or given on the day they are volunteering by Police and officials.

General

• All volunteers must be 18 or over.
• Cheer spot volunteers will need to be stood in a fixed location for an amount of time appropriate to the event they are cheering at. For example, a Marathon event could last up to six hours. Any volunteer unsure of their physical ability to volunteer should take medical advice from a General Practitioner prior to the their volunteering day. Those who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs should not volunteer.
• Battersea shall provide cheer spot volunteers with a volunteer t-shirt and materials for cheering, such as clappers, foam paws etc. Battersea asks that volunteers provide their own refreshments for the event.
• Battersea asks that all volunteers refrain from smoking at the events.
• Battersea asks that all volunteers do not use or display aggressive or abusive language or behaviour towards our organisers and other volunteers.
• Battersea reserves the right to remove any volunteer from a cheer spot should they break the rules or be considered a danger to other volunteers, participants, staff, or spectators.
• Battersea Dogs and Cats Home reserves the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions from time to time.

Photography

• Battersea uses images and footage of our supporters, customers and from our events to publicise Battersea and our work. Images and footage will be used across media such as television broadcasts, advertising, print and digital publications, marketing material, merchandising, social media, personalised direct mail and other media that may be available to the public. Images and footage can also be used by our corporate and commercial partners, if, for example they sponsored one of our events, or internally used by Battersea.
• We will ask for your consent for the use of your image in photography and film if we specifically take a photo of you on the day. Please be advised however that if you are not the focus of the image, we will not usually need to collect your consent, but you may still appear in the background or as part of a crowd.
• There will always be notices advising where photography is taking place at events, and if you do not wish to have your image used in these photos and/or videos, please notify the photographer on the day, or contact our Challenge Events team on: events@battersea.org.uk
• Press are invited to these events and therefore may take their own photography in addition to Battersea photography. Any external press photography will be used in their publications in line with their own processes. Battersea has no control over external press publications.

Your privacy rights

The information you’ve provided to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home (Battersea) will be treated with respect and used in line with your instructions on this form. We will also use your information for analysis and administration purposes, and to communicate with you by post under our legitimate interest.
