Volunteer agreement declaration form

This Volunteer Agreement describes the arrangement between Battersea and you. We will do our best to make your volunteer experience with us enjoyable and rewarding.

PART 1: WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM BATTERSEA

1. Induction and training

We will:

  • Provide a thorough induction on the work of Battersea and provide the relevant induction and/or training you need to meet the responsibilities of your role.

2. Supervision, support, and flexibility

We will:

  • Make reasonable workplace adjustments, to support you to carry out your volunteering role.
  • Work with you to resolve any problems, complaints or challenges you may have whilst volunteering fairly and reasonably, applying our Problem-Solving Policy where necessary. 
  • Listen to and respect your feedback, and keep you informed of any changes to your role. 
  • Ensure that all volunteers are dealt with in accordance with our Equal Opportunities Policy.

3. Expenses

We will:

  • Reimburse agreed out of pocket expenses following the procedure detailed in the Volunteer Policy.

4. Health and safety

We will:

  • Provide adequate health and safety training, to ensure your health, safety, and welfare whilst volunteering.
  • Ensure volunteering activity is considered in the appropriate risk assessments.

5. Insurance

We will:

  • Provide adequate insurance cover whilst you carry out volunteering activities which have been approved and authorised by us.

PART 2: WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR VOLUNTEERS

We expect you:

  • To uphold Battersea’s CEDRIC values whilst volunteering. 
  • To perform your volunteering role and duties to the best of your ability. 
  • To meet your agreed time commitments and give reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made when this is not possible. 
  • To let the Volunteering Team know if you are having any problems or if you have any complaints, concerns, or feedback in a timely manner. 
  • To follow the organisation’s procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities in relation to staff, volunteers, and customers.
  • Not to become involved in the rehoming or sale process of any dog or cat, or in decisions on the rehomability of any animal or suitability of potential owners.
  • To follow instructions and training provided throughout your volunteering at Battersea. To not use the training provided to you by Battersea for commercial gain.

THE AGREEMENT

This agreement is not intended to be a legally binding contract between you and Battersea and may be cancelled at any time at the discretion of either party. Neither of us intend any employment relationship or personal financial benefit to be derived from undertaking this volunteering.

Your privacy rights

The information you’ve provided to Battersea will be treated with respect and used to show that you have received your volunteer induction and that you understand the requirements and expectations of the role. We will also use your information for analysis and administration purposes, and to communicate with you by post under our legitimate interest.
