Dogs and cats with exaggerated appearances like flat faces, lots of wrinkles and folded ears may seem cute, but these extreme features can have a serious impact on their health and welfare. None of us want pets to suffer, but most people simply aren’t aware of the hidden cost of cute.

But it can be changed. Our goal is simple: healthier pets who can live long, happy lives with the people who love them.

The Pledge

I’m pledging to put healthy pets over harmful trends.

• Find out more about extreme characteristics and spread the word about how they can cause harm.
• Think twice before liking or sharing content featuring dogs and cats with these looks, to stop them being normalised.
• Put welfare first when I buy a pet. By not buying a dog or cat with extreme features, I’ll help reduce the number of animals being bred to suffer.
