Goal! Battersea dogs call on footie fans to pass them the ball!

25 Jul 2025

As football fever sweeps the Nation this summer, and the drama continues to unfold on the pitch, Battersea’s Old Windsor Centre is calling on fans to pass them the ball, or two, by donating footballs for its canine residents to enjoy.

Just like the England players giving it their all in Europe at the moment, the dogs at Battersea love nothing more than a good kickabout (or chew-about). Whether they’re chasing down a long ball, dribbling through the grass, or dunking their football in water for half-time refreshment, our sporting canines know how to enjoy ‘the beautiful game’ in their own unique style.

Rehoming and Welfare Manager, Tracey Curren said “footballs are a fantastic way for our Battersea dogs to burn off energy, stay mentally stimulated and enjoy healthy physical exercise. We have lots of dogs with varying ‘footie’ skills so we would love donations of footballs of all sizes and condition. Whether the footballs are brand new or have seen a few back-garden penalties, every football will bring endless joy to the dogs in our care from our energetic lurchers who want to show off their zoomies, to terrific terriers who fancy themselves as midfield maestros.”

So, if you’ve got a spare football rolling around at home, why not help Battersea score big for their dogs this summer?

Donations can be dropped off at main reception of Battersea’s Old Windsor Centre or email to find out more.
