Bailey is a sweet, wiggly and affectionate Spitz looking for understanding owners who can give him time to build his confidence.
Typical of his breed, he can be vocal and can be reactive towards both people & dogs if unsure or if he is not given space.
Once Bailey knows you, his personality really comes out. He loves hands-on fuss, staying close to his favourite people, exploring on walks and settling down with a good chew. He also loves having his own safe space and is very fond of his crate.
Bailey can initially be unsure of unfamiliar people and prefers to make friends at his own pace. Once that friendship has been made, however, he can become an enthusiastic and cuddly companion. He has made fantastic progress whilst in our care and has shown how affectionate and playful he can be when he feels secure.
He enjoys getting out and about and has shown that he can cope brilliantly with busy park environments, including passing people, children, cyclists, joggers and other dogs. Bailey can sometimes be unsure during direct dog greetings, so he would like to be the only dog in his new home while continuing to enjoy carefully chosen walking companions.
Bailey is looking for owners who will understand his sensitive side, respect when he needs a little space and continue building on all the progress he has already made. In return, they will get a funny, affectionate little character who loves being close to the people he trusts. Due to his worries around formal handling, he is looking for owners that will be willing to muzzle him for any veterinary and grooming-related handling going forward. He has been trained to wear a muzzle whilst onsite, but will need continued training to ensure he remains comfortable with this.
Bailey is looking for a home with quiet walking routes, away from any hustle & bustle. He could potentially live with sensible & experienced older teens that understand to give him space whilst settling & finding his feet. He may also be able to live with a confident, dog savvy cat.

Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
