More about Buttercup
Like the flower she’s named after, Buttercup is just waiting for the right conditions to bloom. This gentle girl has a heart full of love and is searching for a patient family who will help her confidence blossom.
Buttercup is a real sweetheart who enjoys spending time with the people she knows and trusts. Although she can be a little sensitive when making new friends, once you’ve earned her trust you’ll discover an affectionate companion who loves calm fuss and gentle affection. She also walks beautifully on lead, regularly checking in with her handler, and she’s a very foodie girl, making her a joy to get to know.
At the centre, Buttercup has shown us that she has a worried side and can find the world a little overwhelming at times. Around other dogs, she prefers to have space and may become vocal if she feels uncomfortable, so she’s looking to be the only dog in the home. She’ll also be happiest living in a quieter area with a low dog population and peaceful walking routes, allowing her to enjoy her adventures without feeling overwhelmed.
One of Buttercup’s favourite things is having the chance to stretch her legs in our secure paddocks, where she loves to run, sniff and explore using her nose. As she is housetrained and appreciates having a safe space to herself, she’ll need a home with a secure private garden where she can continue to build her confidence and enjoy exploring at her own pace.
Buttercup is looking for kind, compassionate owners who understand that worried dogs need time and reassurance. She could live with sensible teenagers aged 14 and over who will respect her boundaries and give her the space she needs while she settles in.
With love, understanding and plenty of tasty treats, we know Buttercup has all the potential to flourish into the wonderful companion we know she can be.
We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming. We cannot discuss dogs with interested parties until this step has been completed.
If you have already completed our online rehoming form and feel you can meet Louie's needs as stipulated above, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bbh.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.
Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we will only be able to contact those that who could be a match for the dog you have contacted us about.
Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
