More about Louie
Meet our wonderful sausage, Louie! Louie is a bright and handsome boy who absolutely loves his toys - especially lots of soft cuddly toys, which he will carry around his kennel and play with for hours. Once he trusts you, Louie is an affectionate dog who enjoys accompanying his handlers on rambles around our fields and paddocks and can often be found zooming up and down our paddocks parading his toys around!
Louie was sadly abandoned at our centre and due to the circumstances surrounding how he came into our care, we have very limited information on Louie's background. He has not been house trained in kennels and has shown a worried side when interacting with unknown people and other dogs. In true Dachshund style, he is quick to use his voice in situations he feels overwhelmed by. Louie really benefits from a sympathetic and hands off approach and will quickly make friends with people if they do not put him under pressure.
Due to his anxieties, Louie is looking for sensible and understanding new owners who are willing to continue the work we have started on building his confidence around people and dogs. He would not be suited to living with other animals and will need his own private garden as a space he can feel safe and content. Louie can be vocal and sound sensitive to noises in his kennel block, so will ideally need to live in a settled household in a quieter location, with a family who can be at home with him for most of the time initially, building up his time left alone slowly and sympathetically. Louie could live with teenagers, pending intros at our Brands Hatch centre.
Louie really is a diamond and just needs his chance at finally feeling safe, secure and loved in a home. Our rehoming team will go through all of his training needs with any possible new owners both verbally and in person. Any prospective new owners will need to talk to our Battersea vet about Louie's medical needs before taking him home.
We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming. We cannot discuss dogs with interested parties until this step has been completed.
If you have already completed our online rehoming form and feel you can meet Louie's needs as stipulated above, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bbh.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.
Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we will only be able to contact those that who could be a match for the dog you have contacted us about.
