More about Pecan
Pecan is a delightful Dachshund who is looking for new home. She is based at Battersea Old Windsor.
Pecan is friendly and excitable and is always ready to get involved in whatever is going on and loves spending time with her favourite people. She is full of energy and enthusiasm, making her a fun companion for owners who are looking for an affectionate dog. She can be demanding for attention at times and will let you know if she feels ignored by barking at you.
As a Dachshund, Pecan's exercise needs need to be balanced carefully. While she enjoys getting out and about on walks, she would not cope with long hours of strenuous exercise. Her new owners will need to be mindful of her breed-specific needs, particularly when it comes to protecting her back and avoiding activities that could put unnecessary strain on her spine. Whilst she likes sniffing around, she can be a little cautious on walks and has sometimes been scared of some noises, so she'd most enjoy slightly quieter walks.
Pecan may be able to live with a calm and independent dog who will respect her space. She has previously told other dogs off when they have become too over-the-top or boisterous with her, so any new dog friend would need to be sensible and understand when she has had enough.
Pecan is very food-motivated and absolutely loves her treats. She currently uses puzzle feeders to help slow her down at meal times and keep her mind busy.
If you have already completed our online rehoming form and would like to know more about Pecan, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bow.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.
We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming.
Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we are only able to contact those that are a match for the dog you have contacted us about.
Rehoming FAQs
Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.
This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest. Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.
If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:
- Microchipping
- Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
- Neutering
- A collar, identification tag and lead
- Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
- Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings
Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
