More about Rio

Rio is a clever and fun-loving Husky cross; he is based at our Old Windsor Centre.

Rio is full of energy being a young dog and loves to zoom around our paddock and secure fields. He loves to play with tennis balls and lots of other toys. Rio has mastered a fetch game and is happy to drop and exchange toys with his handlers. Due to being a high energy breed Rio will need mental and physical stimulation to burn his energy and help him settle into the home environment.

Rio has picked up a ‘sit’, ‘down’ and is working on handler focus training while on walks. He loves treats and this is a great way to continue his training in the home. Rio will need to work on his socialisation, calm interactions and basic training in his new home.

He has shown to be playful and friendly around other dogs; he is currently working on calm interactions and manners when greeting them as he can sometimes be over the top in his play. Rio also wants to say hello to every dog he walks past so the handler focus training will come in handy to help him work on this. Rio will need to be the only dog in the household while he works on his interactions.

Rio has been friendly with everyone he has met during his time here; he can be bouncy and excited when interacting with people so due to this we feel it is best for him to live with older children. He does have an affectionate side and loves to have a fuss from his known handlers.
