More about Russet

Meet Russet, our handsome Pomeranian cross! This bright young boy is full of character and absolutely loves his toys, especially soft and squeaky ones.

Russet is a loving boy who enjoys spending time with his people and can be very excited to see them. As he is still young, meeting new people can sometimes feel a little overwhelming, and he may respond by jumping up or lightly mouthing when he gets excited.

Although Russet previously lived with other dogs, he has shown us a more worried and conflicted side when meeting dogs here at the centre. We have been taking things at his pace, gradually expanding his world and helping him build more positive experiences around other dogs. He can be quick to use his voice when he feels unsure, so he will need patient owners who are happy to continue building his confidence.

Russet could potentially live with tolerant dogs who can be a positive role model for him. He will also need his own private garden where he can feel safe and comfortable while exploring, as well as a quieter home in a low dog populated area. Having someone around for most of the day initially would help him settle into home life and build his confidence.

Russet is a wonderful young boy with so much to offer, and we would love to find him a home where he can feel safe, understood and loved. Our rehoming team will talk through all of his training and support needs with potential adopters, both in person and throughout the rehoming process.

We ask every customer to first complete our online form before we discuss an individual animal, so if you have not filled in our form yet you can find the details on how to do so here: https://www.battersea.org.uk/rehoming. We cannot discuss dogs with interested parties until this step has been completed.

If you have already completed our online rehoming form and feel you can meet Louie's needs as stipulated above, you can e-mail our rehoming team on bbh.rehomers@battersea.org.uk to register your interest.

Please be aware that we have a large amount of interest in rehoming our animals, so we will only be able to contact those that who could be a match for the dog you have contacted us about.

Rehoming FAQs

Here at Battersea, we assess all of our dogs individually and create a rehoming profile for them. To ensure successful matches between people and pets, we use a combination of extensive rehoming experience, our staff expertise and the information you provided in your rehoming form. Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking process, as well as the next steps of the process.

This may not always be the dog you thought it would be, which is why we ask that you see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, not an application for a specific animal. We’re experts in making sure we find the right home for our dogs and the right dog for your home.

Once you’ve completed our online registration form, we’ll handle the rest.  Your rehoming registration will be open for up to three months, and in that time, we’ll do our very best to try and match you with a pet that best suits you and your lifestyle. It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We’re committed to getting to know every animal at our centres before finding a match that works for our dogs and for you wherever possible.

If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to help you continue your search, either at Battersea or beyond.

Our rehoming fee is £230 for dogs (over six months), £350 for a pair of dogs, or £275 for puppies (under six months). We accept cash or debit/credit card as payment (we are unable to accept cheques). Included in this cost are the following:

  • Microchipping
  • Initial vaccinations, flea and worming treatment
  • Neutering
  • A collar, identification tag and lead
  • Starter pack of food, advice and special offers
  • Four weeks’ free Petplan insurance as your dog settles into their new surroundings

Something to bear in mind is that our rehoming fee is just the beginning of the costs involved with owning a dog. We would recommend that before making the decision to rehome, you investigate the costs of pet food, pet insurance, grooming and fees at your local veterinary centre so that you are fully prepared for the financial implications of bringing a dog into your home.
