More about Tawny

Tawny is a laidback and affectionate Belgian Shepherd who would make a loyal companion. She is currently based at Battersea Old Windsor.

Tawny arrived at Battersea Old Windsor through no fault of her own and since being in our care, she has been able to make friends quickly with everyone she has met so far. She will happily lap up the attention that comes her way when given the opportunity and enjoys gentle hands on fuss, this really helps her to relax.

She is looking to be the only dog in the household at this time as Tawny does have an independent side and is quite happy in her own company. During her time with us she has been able to socialise with a variety of dogs of different breeds and sizes. She will mostly prefer to say hello before going off to do her own thing. It would be beneficial for Tawny's new owners to keep her regularly socialised with dogs of similar nature who won’t ask for much interaction from her.

Tawny is looking for new owners that have minimal leaving hours as she can find being left alone a bit worrying and stressful at first, but once she knows a routine and home she does settle. She is looking for new owners who can take a patient approach to her care and allow her to settle into her new routine and environment at her own pace. We have been teaching Tawny a ”bed” cue which has been making progress with and allows her to feel more settled when she does need to be left alone. She loves her home comforts and will happily snooze on the sofa if she is given the opportunity. Tawny is house trained and generally a calm, affectionate and laid back dog.

Tawny does have some medical needs, anyone interested in rehoming Tawny will need to speak to a Battersea vet before rehoming her

Tawny will make a wonderful pet dog and bring plenty of smiles and love.
