Rehome a Battersea dog: four simple steps
Step one: Registration
Before we can match you with a dog, you will need to register your details on our online registration form. We’ll start by asking you some initial questions to check that Battersea is best suited to meet your needs, and if we don’t think we are, you’ll be told straight away. As you progress through the remainder of the form, we’ll ask you a range of questions related to your current living circumstances as well as your preferences. We use over 160 years' of experience to match you with your perfect pet, which is why we encourage people to see the registration form as a way of registering your interest in rehoming, rather than applying for a specific dog or cat.
Once you complete your online registration, you’ll receive a confirmation email to let you know that we have everything we need to begin our matchmaking.
Step two: Leave it with us
We work hard to find the most suitable homes for our dogs and cats. Together with the answers you’ve provided, as well as everything we’ve learnt about each individual dog in our care, we’ll try to match you with one that best suits you and your lifestyle.
It can take a bit of time for us to try and match you with a pet – but we promise it’s time well spent. We understand that waiting can be hard, and we will keep you as updated as we can during our search. If we are not able to match you with a dog within three months of your registration, we’ll let you know and offer guidance to continue your search beyond Battersea.
Step three: Speaking to our team
When we think we’ve found a potential match, we will contact you to arrange a call. One of our expert rehoming team will then get in touch to chat about a few more details.
Step four: Rehome
We will then arrange a visit to a Battersea centre to meet your potential new dog. This is where your new friendship begins! We know that rehoming a pet is an exciting and emotional experience, so we’ll give you plenty of expert advice and support to help your new dog settle into their new home.
