Terms and conditions

Battersea holds a weekly lottery, the Paw Draw Lottery. In addition to the weekly Paw Draw Lottery, Battersea holds a raffle - called a ‘Superdraw’ each Spring, Christmas, Autumn and Winter. All Paw Draw players are automatically entered into the Superdraw Raffle at no extra cost, as well as Superdraw Raffle players who have purchased tickets.

Out of each pound you donate to the Paw Draw, 89p went towards helping Battersea achieve its charitable objectives.

In 2020, the total raised by the Paw Draw was £4,617,980.
This was distributed as follows:
89.2% - went towards helping Battersea achieve its charitable objectives
10% - went towards the promotion and running of the Paw Draw
0.8% - went towards prizes

In the Paw Draw, each lottery entry is assigned a unique number. These numbers are entered into a Random Number Generator (RNG) that has been tested and approved by an independent, Gambling Commission approved, third-party test house. The first lottery number selected wins the first prize, the second wins the second prize and so on until all 14 prizes are assigned a winner. There are no rollovers. The draw is held each Friday – unless the draw date falls on a bank holiday, in which case it will be held on the next working day.

Winning lottery numbers are published on the Battersea website weekly. Should they wish to, players can call the lottery helpline on 0207 627 9312 (Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm) to enquire if they have won. Prizes are paid by cheque and posted to the winners within 14 days of the draw. Winners may also receive a call from Battersea.

We reserve the right to use winners’ names for promotional purposes, such as ‘Mrs Smith from London’.

The Paw Draw is drawn weekly and the chance of winning a prize per entry is 1 in 6,872.

The prizes available are:
1st prize - £600
2nd prize - £100
12 runners up prizes - £5

The cost of Paw Draw Lottery entry is £1 a week (£4.34 a month by Direct Debit or £5 every 5 weeks when you play through premium SMS), players may purchase more than one entry. All entries are paid in advance.

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home may (without giving any reason or notice at its absolute discretion) decline to accept an application, cancel an existing subscription, or terminate or suspend the weekly lottery scheme.

Any cancellation of an existing subscription will not affect your prior purchase of weekly lottery entries nor your rights as a holder of such entries, providing that you have complied with the foregoing obligations.

The Paw Draw promoter operates a Complaints and Disputes Procedure which is available from this web page and which will also be made available to customers upon request or a complaint being made.

The Superdraw Raffle

Paw Draw Lottery players are entered into the Superdraw Raffle for free.

Superdraw Raffle entrants who are not Paw Draw players, pay £1 per entry and may purchase up to 50 tickets online and up to 40 tickets by post. No tickets should be sold by any individual in the street or on the internet.

In 2021, the total raised by the Superdraw Raffle was £1,354,166. This was distributed as follows:
57.37% - went towards helping Battersea achieve its charitable objectives
39.57% - went towards the promotion and running of the lottery
3.06% - went towards prizes

All entries to the Superdraw Raffle and the Paw Draw Lottery are entered into a random draw that is conducted 7 days after the closing date stated on each ticket. Any entries received after the closing date are treated as donations, there are no refunds. The draw is conducted by an independent party in front of two witnesses. The first number drawn wins the first prize, the second wins the second prize, and so on until all 23 prizes are assigned a winner. There are no rollovers.

We contact the winners by phone and letter within 14 days of the draw date and provide the prizes to them within 7 days of receiving acknowledgement from the winners. Winners will have up to 6 months following the draw date to claim their prize and the Charity will make all reasonable attempts to contact prize winners during this time. If a prize cannot be paid within 6 months of the date of the draw it will be forfeited and treated as a donation to Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. We reserve the right to use winner’s names for promotional purposes, such as ‘Mrs Smith from London’.

Four Superdraw Raffles are held each year and the chance of winning a prize per entry is 1 in 14,719.

The Superdraw Raffle prizes available are:
1st prize - £10,000
2nd prize - £1,000
3rd prize - £500
20 runners up prizes - £25 M&S gift card
