Understanding compassion fatigue

Understanding the emotional impact of animal welfare work.

Working in animal welfare can be deeply rewarding. At the same time, regular exposure to challenging situations, complex decisions and emotional demands can take a toll over time.

This recorded short course, led by Tamsin Durston, explores the concept of compassion fatigue in a safe and supportive learning environment. You will consider how compassion fatigue can develop, what it might look like and how it differs from related experiences like burnout.

The session also explores practical approaches that may help individuals maintain professional satisfaction and emotional wellbeing while continuing to work in demanding roles.

The emphasis is on awareness, reflection and practical understanding, rather than clinical diagnosis.
