More about ARCHIE

Despite being over 11 years old, Archie is a bright, active dog with a lot of love to give. After spending some time with us and learning new manners, he is ready to settle in with a new family.

Archie is very affectionate and enjoys a fuss from everyone. He has a grumpy side though and can get reactive when feeling threatened or frustrated, so his new family needs to be very good at reading him and acknowledging any signs of discomfort.

Archie is a creature of comfort! He likes cosy spaces but can get protective over them that is why he is currently learning ‘off’ and ‘bed’ cues. We are looking for someone that will continue this training in a calm, positive manner. Archie also had some troubles sharing higher value items and could get jealous over owners so his new family will have to be comfortable managing those behaviours as well.

As much as Archie adores people, he is not keen on other dogs and will show unwanted behaviours if pushed. He will need a quiet, low dog populated area, with plenty of open space to manage his reactions. He does not feel comfortable in a noisy, built up environment either.

As a proper terrier, Archie is very driven by movement and will chase and try to grab birds and rodents. He is not suitable for a highly cat populated area for the same reason. From time to time, he likes utilising these skills in a game of fetch and will bring toys over to you, showing his more playful side.

Archie needs a home with a private, secure garden to continue his house training and to have a safe space to rest, play and learn ‘recall’ without noises of the outside world.

He is a wonderful dog, and we believe that with the right experience and guidance he will make a great companion. We are looking for adult only households with good understanding of dogs’ body language that have successfully managed similar behaviours in the past.
